The ₹1 lakh Tamil Nadu top-up: what we know
The Tamil Nadu 2026–27 revised budget announced a domestic rooftop solar subsidy of up to ₹1 lakh in total, with a ₹50 crore allocation. Reports describe it as the ₹78,000 central subsidy plus a state top-up of about ₹22,000 for a 3 kW system.
As of October 2026 there is no government order, eligibility rule or application window. Do not delay your central subsidy application while you wait. We will update this page when the state scheme opens.
Who is eligible
You need a residential electricity connection in your name, a roof you own or have rights to, and no previous rooftop solar subsidy for the same connection. The system must use DCR modules and be installed by a vendor registered on the portal for your DISCOM area.
How to apply in Tamil Nadu, step by step
- Register on pmsuryaghar.gov.in: select Tamil Nadu, TNPDCL and enter your consumer number and mobile number.
- Log in and submit the rooftop solar application. TNPDCL checks technical feasibility.
- After approval, choose a registered vendor and install the system.
- Submit plant details and apply for a net meter. TNPDCL installs the bidirectional meter and inspects the system.
- The portal generates the commissioning certificate. Submit your bank details and a cancelled cheque.
- The subsidy is credited to your bank account, usually within about 30 days.
Goggles Energy prepares the application, technical documents and net-meter paperwork with you, so you do not chase each step alone.
Documents you need
Latest electricity bill, Aadhaar, roof photos, bank passbook or cancelled cheque, and proof of property ownership or authorisation if the connection is in another family member's name.
Mistakes that delay the subsidy
Using non-DCR modules, a vendor not registered for your area, a mismatch between the name on the bill and the bank account, and installing before feasibility approval. Each one can block or delay the payment.
